EAST-WEST: The Art of Orientalism
"In 1884, Gustav Bauernfeind painted A Street Scene, Damascus, a work shaped not by imagination, but by direct encounter and personal immersion.”
These works were more than artistic expressions, they were early bridges between worlds. By presenting lived truth across cultures, they challenged perception, fostered understanding, and demonstrated a fundamental idea: that connection begins with experience. Today, this legacy carries forward through East–West: The Art of Dialogue exhibition, founded by Shafik Gabr, translating the same principle into action through cultural exchange and human engagement.
